About the Seminar

Special Lecture Series – I on “Cooperatives in Ethiopia and India” The Department of Economics is organizing Special Lecture Series – I on “Cooperatives in Ethiopia and India” to provide students and faculty members with a comparative understanding of the cooperative movement in Ethiopia and India by Dr. R. Karunakaran, Professor, Department of Cooperatives, College of Business and Economics Hawassa University, Ethiopia The lecture will focus on the origin, evolution, structure, functions, and contributions of cooperatives to economic and social development in both countries. It will highlight the role of cooperatives in promoting rural development, agricultural productivity, employment generation, financial inclusion, poverty reduction, women’s empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.
